Fiber College – Getting Ready

Fiber College of Maine

It’s time again. Mom and I are packing up our bags and materials and we’ll be headed to a few days of creativity at Fiber College: A Grand Gathering of Fiber Artists and Students on the Coast of Maine:
Educating Creative Expression

What’s new this year? Firstly, as they are offering wood carving, it won’t be only  mother-daughter event, the men are coming along too and will take some wood carving and painting classes! We’ve secured the cabin at Searsport Shores Ocean Campground and have our rolling cases for our sewing machines all set!

Sewing machine ready to go! Sewing machine ready to go!

The actual Fiber College will be Thursday, September 6th – Sunday, September 9th at the campground, but we will be going for the week for a few days of R & R in Maine before we bring on the learning!

Anyone else going? Have you been before? Any local tidbits we should know?

I have a FULL roster of classes booked… Latvian Mittens, Batik Fiber Art Quilt, Spinning on a Great Wheel, Appalachian Basketry…and a refresher on Slip Covers (Although I know how it’s always fun to learn new methods!) Add to that the Cocktail Reception, Fiber Swap, multiple suppers (Pot Luck and otherwise!) and even a Dessert Farewell… and I can already tell it will be difficult to leave!

There are also a ton of free demonstrations Friday through Sunday to boot!

Off to sort through the materials list and pull from the stash where ever possible!

Off to Maine in just under 2 weeks!
