I’ve been Pinning things onto my boards over on Pinterest (Follow Along!). I’ve been stacking and squirreling away fabrics (shhhhh === don’t tell the feller!) And I’ve been bookmarking and copying in to file techniques for this and that all in an effort to be ready to make things for the house as room colors are finalized and decor chosen.
The Goal? Something handmade in every room… 14 rooms.
I’ve been wanting to try out some hand appliqué, paper piecing and machine quilting so I figured no time like the present! I mine as well start with something for my studio room/office. Knowing that this renovation dust machine will be ongoing for a while I’ve decided to make a sewing machine cover for my industrial in-table gal. She’s a champ, but I hate having to constantly clean her as we sand (floors, walls, ceilings…)Fabrics chosen so far for Dusty.
As I’d like to save money and use what I have, I dove in and found these…
1. A 1/2 yard of a fun polka dot that’s been kicking around my stash for a while. Full Moon Polka Dot in Lime, part of the Lotus Collection by amy butler for Rowan Fabrics.
2. The leftovers from my recently made PJ pants (I still need to post them.) Botanica by Lourdes Sanchez for Timeless Treasures in cream.
3. Some beautiful textural tan linen I’ve had for…15 years?
I laid it all out and realized that I need ONE more color. I’ll be headed out shortly to my LFS (Local Fabric Shop) Rock Paper Scissors to see If they may have a fat eighth of something fun to go where the post-its are in the photo at the top of this post. The owner, Beth, is great and will be able to show me my many options! I want something with green and purple in it. It wouldn’t suck if it had tan too…
Alas, I’m still having trouble with my left hand (I’m supposed to let it rest?) and hope that this will work better than the massive machine sewing freelance project I have on hold or the knitting of the #annaKAL that I’ve been trying to tick away at.
And…although a day late due to the holiday, I’ve linked this to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced!
